City Clerk/Treasurer - Tamela S. Curtis
The City of Pawnee City, Nebraska City Clerk/Treasurer is the office manager of the City and other departments of the City and is appointed by Mayor with approval by the City Council annually. The Clerk/Treasurer provides clerical, record keeping and administrative functions to the Mayor and City Council. The City Clerk/Treasurer performs many tasks that assist in guiding and managing the operation of local government policy and law and serves as the link between Mayor/City Council and the citizens of Pawnee City. Listed below are just a few of the responsibilities.
- Is accountable to the Mayor and City Council for the orderly and efficient accomplishments of her'his duties and has authority over office personnel.
- To aid and assist all personnel of the City of Pawnee City and to provide such other assistance as requested by personnel of the city of Pawneed City or the departments thereof.
- Prepares agendas and attends meetings of the governing body, keeping a correct journal of the proceedings of that body and publish the same within 30-days.
- Issue public notification of all official activities or meetings.
- Implementing policies and ideas adopted by City Council.
- Prepare Ordinances, Resolutions or Proclamations so that they can be executed, recorded and published in the newspaper.
- Maintain and update documents such as municipal codes, employee handbooks and new council member information binders.
- Collaborate with other Co-workers, Mayor and City Council to assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, or priorities.
- Plan and direct the maintenance, filing, safekeeping, and computerization of all municipal documents.
- Ensuring that all projects, operations, and functions of the City operate efficiently.
- Ensuring all Local, State, and Federal laws are followed by the City.
- Shall be custodian of all monies belonging to the City and see that they are kept in a separate account and make sure receipts are issued for all monies.
- Shall invest all money owned by the City and collect all money owed to the City as directed by the governing body.
- Shall publish an annual report showing details of all financial activities of the City with the help of the City Auditor.

- Responding to citizen concerns.
The City Clerk/Treasurer also works to develop the City's annual budget with the assistance of City Auditor Julie D. Bauman, CPA. Clerk Curtis also works with other Clerks and Administrators in the region, and performs other duties assigned to the Clerk per the request from the Mayor and City Council.
